Video World Demise

The local video store has gone belly up. Video World, you will be missed. When I heard the news yesterday from the owner's wife I felt like crying. For nearly twenty years these people have provided the entire community with a vast selection of movies to choose from. Loads of foreign and indie films, not just the latest blockbuster release or major studio misstep.
Farewell, my friend. So many movies I wouldn't have seen but for you.

Right you are, droll. I went back to the video store yesterday to pick up some DVDs that they've got clearanced. The place was packed and the mood was upbeat, but it was still tinged with bittersweet loss.

maybe the owners made tons of money and are now going to retire and winnebago their way across the u.s.a. that would be nice, but somehow i doubt it.

there are so many closed up shops around town now. it is eerie. kind of like the wild west/ghost town feeling. these are some strange times, for sure.
