Let's Do Lunch

On Saturday MK and I got to have lunch, and meet in person (finally!), one of our online friends, Carrie. Over the years I've met a dozen or so of the friends I've made online and I think the whole experience has been nothing but enriching.
Since Carrie is a Cleveland native, we let her pick the restaurant. She chose a wonderful Tuscan grill, Brio, in Crocker Park, not far from where we were staying with MK's sister in Bay Village. I'm also grateful to Carrie for taking time out of a hectic day to have a nearly three hour lunch with us. Once you get me talking, it's hard to shut me up! Not to mention that the food was delicious and none of us felt like rushing through it. Although I probably rush a bit through the bolognese lassagna topped with a cheesy cream sauce. I've never had anything like it. I'll try to replicate it at some point, just to try and figure out exactly how they concocted this fabulous dish!
Well, my sister's here, so more later :)

It was wonderful to finally meet the two of you. The food was delicious and the company... delightful! I didn't even realize that we were there for three hours.(The time passed so quickly!)

I'm already looking forward to our *next* get together. ;-)

Forgot to add,

"Over the years I've met a dozen or so of the friends I've made online and I think the whole experience has been nothing but enriching."

I have to agree. I haven't met as many as a dozen or so but the few that I have met and come to know, (one in paticular) have made my life a much happier place. I couldn't imagine my life without them, they are kind, caring, loving people and I feel blessed they include me in their lives.

I don't know you that well Jen but from what I've seen I'd like to consider you one of those friends. I love your blog!

Thanks, Jinxy! And trust me, you don't want to know me too well, you'll get nightmares ;)
I do agree about meeting online friends in RL, it's worth it, and boundlessly enriching. I still think often about going to Boston ten years ago to meet my online fellow sci-fi geek friends... I brought a case of Rolling Rock pony bottles with me because they'd heard of such a thing (little green 7 oz bottles of froth and goodness).
Of course that was before the evil Budweiser empire bought Latrobe Brewing and the Rolling Rock label and ruined everything good about beer.
Anyway, I loved meeting Carrie, she's wonderful and interesting and fun! We'll meet up with again, I'm sure because we're in Cleveland a couple of times a year :)

I meant 'never' heard of such a thing. Sheesh. This is what I get for typing while talking.

HA!
I remember Rolling Rock, I was introduced to it by a friend, yummy! Bud, the evildoers of the beer world.

Carrie is an amazing woman. Perhaps I'll be able to attend one of these meet ups in the future.

Nightmares? I highly doubt it.

The internet rules in that way where something that isn't entirely tangible invades and pervades our thoughts and actions in totally unforeseen ways ;)

hi ladies....i'm a tad slow in catching up on everyone's blogs....sorry.

it's good to hear that many find wonderful new friends online and get a chance to meet them, enjoy each other and connect into LT friendships...unfortunately, that's a piece of lady luck i don't share (kind of like my bad luck with neighbors, cars, etc. - will that black cloud ever move on? lol) as the two online friends i've met the past couple of years have turned out to be way more than i can handle (clearly noted in some of my own bitch-session blogging).

Hey, wick! I need to check older posts more often, clearly ;)
I've a ton of online friends in RL, from all over the world, literally. It's been almost entirely been wonderful, and I know that I'm lucky in that, this, case. One long weekend I spent in Boston with a bunch of geek friends and all we did was play trivial pursuit and drink the whole time. It was heaven! Plus we talked Buffy and Xena nonstop :)
