When Snow Attacks!

Blizzard 2010

My Jeep is parked on the other side of the tree that fell, fortunately completely missing it. The Weather-Attacker Storm Team predicted 4-8 inches of snow. We got two feet. So, MK and I spent the better part of Saturday and Sunday shoveling snow, and aiding some misguided college kids driving around in cars who became stuck right in front of our condo. Early Saturday evening there was a carload of Duquesne students drinking beer and smoking pot trying to push an Accord up the unplowed street. I took them out a shovel and suggested that they back down 13th Street to the main drag. Later we got more Duquesne students, this time in some kind of Toyota, again stuck, but this time they at least had shovels. Same result: Backing down 13th St.
This went on all Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Eh, when I was young we ventured out too no matter the weather, so for them I'm sure it was all in fun.
Next up: More snow starting tomorrow! Wee! The side roads aren't cleared yet, so it'll be fun to see how bad things can get! I've got plenty of food and toilet paper...

It looks pretty!

Something is terribly wrong. Yesterday I was outside smoking in a t-shirt and sweater and I was warm and cozy. We don't have any snow in N. Idaho or MT. This time last year the side door on the house was completely blocked by a snow wall that lasted until May.

Don't take it personally, we are sincerely hoping that all the snow returns to your neck of the woods ASAP. While the days off from school are super nice, having to make them up in the summer is not...

Also, Bella doesn't like to walk in snow that's higher than she can see.

It's pretty crazy around here because although we're used to snow, we're just not used to getting feet of it at a time.
I'll stock up on nonessential essentials later. You know; wine, panty shields, illegal fireworks. That sort of thing ;)

I'm SOOOO glad to be back on the West Coast! UGH!

I second my good friend polar bear's gratitude in being on the west coast. Also, I don't think that smoking pot while trying to push a car is advised - that's definitely operating heavy machinery.

We lucked out along the lakeshore in Ohio, since the storm passed *just* south of us. I have a feeling we won't be as lucky when this second round comes through this week...

It would be so wonderful to just get a "token snow" for the holiday season (to add to the effect)and have NO SNOW after mid-January! (Of course, the weather gods haven't asked for my input. ;-) )

As I get older and "wussier", I can't even get excited about winter sports anymore, so I'll just stay warm and cozy...wrapped up in a blanket...in front of my computer.

H - You Clevelanders are accustomed to this sort of crap!!! You're ready for nature to hate on you.
As for you west coasters...I got nothin'. Lucky you to be out in the sunshine and away from endless snow :)

*sigh*
You're right, Jennifer.
It's important to accept this snow as part of the "terms and conditions" of living in this region. ;-)

I'll just continue to tell the people in more moderate climates that it helps me feel even more joyous when Spring arrives.
Hmmm...
In truth, I *have* seen the students on our campus practically dancing (in shorts and sandals)when there's the slightest break in the weather (e.g. just above freezing)!
